Siniganag na hipon sa sampalok(shrimps in tamarind broth), making 8 servings, 8 cups (2 liters) water, 1 pc (75 g) tomato quartered, 1 pc (75 g) onion quartered, 1 pc (75 g) radish diagonally sliced, 1 pouch(50 g) mama sita’s sinigang sa sampalok mix, 2lbs (1kg) shrimps trimmed and rinsed. 8 pcs (100g) sitaw (long green beans) cut into 2 inch lengths. 2 pcs (15g) long green pepper. Bundle kangkong (swamp cabbage) or spinach. Patis (fish sauce) to taste. 1. In a sauce pan, combine water, tomatoes, onions, radish and mama sita’s sinigang sa sampalok mix. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes or until the radish is soft. Bring to a rolling boil and add the shrimps, sitaw and long green pepper. Cook for another three minutes or until both the shrimps and the sitaw are cooked. Add the kangkong or spinach and cook until done. Remove the heat and serve the patis. To make meat sinigang: use 1kg of meat (2. 2lbs) instead of shrimps. Boil the meat together with onions, radish and tomatoes until very tender before adding the rest of the ingredients.
